چکیده

We investigated the potentials and acceptance of tangible tabletop (TT) interfaces in functional and neural rehabilitation. Our goal was to analyse whether TT systems are adequate for rehabilitation and its sub categories and whether these tools have the potential to create an added value for both patients and therapists. We further investigated conventional practices and rehabilitation tools that could be adequately adapted to TT interfaces. Based on theoretical work and on the results of two focus groups with therapists and a contextual inquiry we developed three concepts for TT tools. Finally we present the resulting paper and interactive prototypes.

A Tangible Tabletop Game Supporting Therapy of Children with Cerebral Palsy

This paper presents the design of a table-top game supporting the treatment of children with Cerebral Palsy. The game was developed through a participatory design process involving therapists and children from the target user group. The game is implemented on top of a platform that supports the implementation of tangible user interfaces using sensing technology. We argue that physical interacti...

Designing a Museum Multi-touch Table for Children

Tangible user interfaces allow children to take advantage of their experience in the real world with multimodal human interactions when interacting with digital information. In this paper we describe a model for tangible user interfaces that focuses mainly on the user experience during interaction. This model is related to other models and used to design a multitouch tabletop application for a ...

Application of Tangible Acoustic Interfaces in the Area of Production Control and Manufacturing

This article explores how physical objects like machine housings can be transformed into natural, seamless, unrestricted touch interfaces. The objective is to design multimodal tangible acoustic interfaces (TAI) that bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. The methods presented are based on the principle that interacting with a physical object modifies its surface acoustic patte...

The ARTable: An AR-Based Tangible User Interface System

Augmented Reality (AR) and Tangible User Interface (TUI) have been proven to provide intuition to human computer interface with richness of a tactile sense. Recent implementations in that field, however, have inherited a 2D Graphical User Interface (GUI) scheme and work as isolated systems. Consequently, the systems are limited in supporting intuitive interfaces and various applications. This p...

Tangible Augmented Reality

This paper advocates a new metaphor for designing threedimensional Augmented Reality (AR) applications, Tangible Augmented Reality (Tangible AR). Tangible AR interfaces combine the enhanced display possibilities of AR with the intuitive manipulation and interaction of physical objects or Tangible User Interfaces. We define what Tangible AR interfaces are, present some design guidelines and prot...
